Just 13 miles from Lochmarben to Beattock (famous for a bridge designed by Thomas Telford). The walk took me along the B7072, this has got to be the longest and straightest road I know.

In 10 miles along the road only 30 cars passed me - I know 'cos I counted (the little games you play to make the miles go by!).  

This bit of the route really is peaceful and quiet - beautiful.

Fish and chips for tea tonight and then back to camp just outside Beattock.
